For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow

So, today I’m not posting a recipe. Nope, today I’m here to shout HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN for all the interwebs to hear.

John is my partner. He is my best friend and my kid’s dad and the person who makes me laugh every single day. He is also our illustrator and logo designer and all that good stuff. He is, hands down, one of the wisest, sincerest people I’ve had the privilege of crossing paths with on this vast planet of ours. And today is his 35th birthday.

There are countless things that I adore about John. I love the way he dances and the creativity he brings to parenting. I love that, every single day, he challenges me to be the best version of myself that I can muster. And I love that when I come up short, as I so often do, he’s right there by my side. Have I mentioned his laugh before around these parts? Because it’s awesome. It’s one of those laughs that makes you want to make him laugh over and over and over again. Today, as I sit back and feel thankful for having John in my life, I am looking forward to making him biscuits and gravy for dinner (his request) and an angel food cake that Max and I will sing to him over. I will cook as much love as possible into that food. Oh, and you know, hope that my biscuits turn out half as good as his do (he’s our resident biscuit baker).

So please join me today, folks, in sending John into the latter half of his thirties with bells and whistles.

And John–if you’re reading this–know that I love you, with every ounce of my twisted little heart. XOXOXOXO.
